About the Event
This event aims to address what we see as an underexplored area in current scholarship: the role of family and kinship in the Hellenistic world. The workshop will examine families across the Hellenistic kingdoms and their successor states from the fourth century BCE to the fourth century CE. While the chronological scope is broad, particular attention will be given to how communities understood the social, cultural, and economic dimensions of family life, and how these contributed to identity formation at both individual and collective levels.
